Outstanding balances: what each column means
One row per client, showing what was billed, what was paid, and what is still owed, with the clinician attached.
This is where the money and the person meet. Billed, collected, and outstanding sit on one row, and so does the clinician the balance belongs to. For a group practice that combination is the useful one: it is the shortest path from an export to a per-clinician revenue number.
It is a position report, not a history. It tells you where balances stand at the moment you pulled it.
Every column in the file

Client | Names a clientThe person the balance belongs to. This is the column that makes the file client-level. |
Clinician | Decides the moneyThe clinician the balance is attributed to. This is the column that makes the file usable for a group practice. |
Services Provided | Not confirmedNamed for the services delivered to this client. Unconfirmed, and not read. |
Uninvoiced | Not confirmedNamed for an amount not yet put on an invoice. Unconfirmed, and not read. |
Invoiced | Decides the moneyWhat has been billed to this client. This is the billed side, and it is what gets read as billed revenue. |
Client Paid | Decides the moneyWhat this client has actually paid. This is the collected side, and it is what gets read as collected revenue. |
Client Balance | Decides the moneyWhat is still owed. The outstanding side of the same row. |
Which columns decide practice economics
Clinician is what makes this file worth pulling: it attaches revenue to a person. Invoiced is the billed side, Client Paid is the collected side, and Client Balance is what is still owed. Those three plus the clinician are the whole story.
What this file cannot tell you
What we do not know
- Services Provided and Uninvoiced are on the header row, but we have not confirmed what SimplePractice puts in them, so nothing here reads them.
What will bite you
- There is no date column. This report cannot tell you what any particular month looked like, only where things stand right now. Use it for who-owes-what, not for a trend.
- One row per client. A clinician's number is the sum of their clients' rows, so a client seen by two clinicians needs care.
Drop this exact file here
Drop this exact file into the step that removes client data. It runs on your own computer, strips the columns that name a client, and hands back clinician-level totals. Those totals are what the free Snapshot reads. Nothing is uploaded at any point.
Both steps run in your browser. No file is uploaded, and no client data is ever sent anywhere.
